سالروز ولادت حضرت علی اکبر(ع) روز جوان نام گرفت، انسانی از تبار پاکان که در سایه سار اطاعت از پروردگار به پاسداری از آرمان های والای دین اسلام پرداخت و با شهامت و ایثار خویش الگویی شایسته برای فرزندان این مرز و بوم شد، جوانانی که با سلاح علم و ایمان و اقتدا به ایشان توانستند در مسیر سازندگی کشور گام های موثری بردارند.

یازدهم شعبان 43 قمری در شهر مدینه فرزندی از تبار پاک اهل بیت (ع) دیده به جهان گشود که او را علی اکبر (ع) نام نهادند. حضرت علی اکبر(ع) فرزند امام حسین (ع) سومین پیشوای شیعیان و مادرش لیلی دختر ابی مره بود.

حضرت علی اکبر(ع) در کنار پدر والامقامش رشد و پرورش یافت و با سیره و روش اهل بیت(ع) آشنا شد. وی دارای ظاهری زیبا و زبانی شیوا بود و در گفتار، وجاهت و خلق و خوی همانند جدش رسول خدا بوده است تا آنجا که پدر بزرگوارش می فرماید: « هرگاه مشتاق دیدار پیامبر می شدیم به چهره او می نگریستیم» و در شجاعت و دلاوری همچون علی ابن ابی طالب(ع) بود.

کنیه آن حضرت ابوالحسن و لقب هایش علی اکبر و اهل شباب بود، ایشان سراسر عمر کوتاه و پر برکت خویش را در خدمت و اطاعت پدربزرگوارش گذراند و در زمان قیام عاشورا در کنار پدر با دلیری، ایمان و عشق به پیکار با کفار پرداخت.

فداکاری ایشان در حماسه عاشورا ستودنی و ماندگار شد چرا که شجاعانه و دلاورانه با دشمنان به نبرد برخاست. سرانجام حضرت علی اکبر(ع) پس از بارها پیکار در میدان جنگ به محاصره دشمنان درآمد و در دهم محرم 61 هجری قمری به شهادت رسید. در تقویم ملی سالروز ولادت حضرت علی اکبر(ع) روز جوان نامگذاری شد تا جوانان ایشان را سرلوحه و الگویی شایسته در زندگی خود قرار دهند تا بتوانند به سعادت واقعی دست یابند.
